Free Home Chargers for Companies Leasing EVs to Employees

A new incentive is being offered in the UK to switch to electric vehicles. Companies that lease EVs to their employees are being offered free home charging units, including free installation, from British Gas. The free units will be able to charge eclectic vehicles three times faster that plugging them into conventional power sockets.

British gas has already signed an exclusive agreement with the Hitachi fleet’s management arm, to provide them with charging units. It has also signed an agreement with Renault and Nissan and to supply charge points for their electric cars. Overall the company expects to capture 70% of the EV charging market in the UK.

Some two million electric vehicles are expected to be on British roads within the next decade. Meanwhile, the global market for electric vehicles is expected to top $6 billion within the next four years.
